Questing Heirs Genealogical Society will be offering a Free Beginner Genealogy Class on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 Noon at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Long Beach.

The class is designed for individuals who are interested in learning how to begin researching their family history. We will have three short presentations on getting started with genealogy, followed by hands-on assistance from experienced volunteers who can answer questions about FamilySearch, military records, genealogy websites, and other research resources.

We will also be providing refreshments and offering genealogy-themed door prizes, including an AncestryDNA kit.

Janice M. Sellers is related to actor Peter Sellers and to John of Gaunt, son of a king and father of a king. At least that’s what her grandparents told her. Unfortunately, they were wrong, but that’s why she has researched her family for 45+ years and now helps others find the right pieces to fit their genealogy puzzles. Janice specializes in Jewish, Black, forensic, and newspaper research and has taught at local to international levels.
